New-to-Nordic packages are designed for beginner skier levels. Package includes full day rental, 90 minutes of group instruction, and trail fees. This package is the perfect starting point for those new to cross-country skiing looking to learn the basics. Available for Classic track skiing or Skate skiing. Nordic Upper Trails Orientation Tour - at Silver Fir

For the Nordic skier who is new to the Upper Trail system. The tour starts at the Silver Fir Lodge and begins with basic Lift Safety and Riding instructions. The tour pauses at Grand Junction and then continues on some of the upper trails depending on conditions. The tour concludes with a guided descent of the easiest way down to the Silver Fir Lodge. Go with a Pro! Let our certified snow sports professionals maximize your potential. Private instruction can be one of the most effective ways to quickly improve your skill set or to get the basics in a private setting. Private instruction is flexible and can guide the beginner skier through the most basic skills while offering the intermediate and advanced skier direction and guidance in improving technique. Private Lesson 3-Paks are for the person nominated at the time of purchase.  Additional students are welcome.  3-Paks can be purchased online, over the phone, or at our sales desks.  Reservations are required at least 48 hours in advance to the day of lesson.  All lessons must be used during the same season of purchase and are not transferable.  The SnowSports School reserves all rights to scheduling based on instructor availability.  We welcome your requests for specific instructors, just let us know the instructor you would like to be matched with.

Early Season Refresher - Sundays

You worked hard last season improving your technique, so start this season with a refresher by reviewing and building on last season's progress with valuable input in areas that might be a little grey. Determine new goals for the coming season, while skiing our Cold Creek trail with your instructor. This two hour class is designed to give you the best start for the season and new objectives to work on during the upcoming season. Treasure Trails - Saturdays

Treasure Trails group lessons teach our youngest skiers (ages 4-6) the basics of Nordic skiing. Students will learn to ski in a directed manner in a track, straight run in the tracks, getting up, snowplow and turning with a snowplow. Includes trail pass. Cross Country - Ages 4-6

Junior Nordic Program - Saturdays

This is an eight week program for youths age 7-18. Students are divided into age groups: Little Nords (7-10), Freeheelers (11-14) and Trailblazers (15-18). Within those groups, students are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups based on their skill-level. Little Nords work on strengthening their classic and downhill skills and most groups will ski the upper trail system by season end. Older Little Nord groups will also split their season between skating and classic. Freeheelers and Trailblazers ski both classic and skate and work on perfecting their technique, efficiency, and endurance. Cross Country - Ages 7-18

Junior Nordic Race Program - Saturdays

This is an advanced program for students age 13-18 who want to compete in Nordic skiing and provides an introduction to Nordic racing for students considering joining one of the local junior race teams. Students will work with a coach who will lead training sessions for the group in technique, race strategy, and ski prep. Distance and intensity will be dictated by the make-up of the group. Students should be skilled at both skate and classic skiing and able to ski down from the upper trail system. Cross Country - Ages 13-18

JNP Parents Program - Saturdays

While the kids are away the parents will…Ski! A course designed for the parents of the JNP conducted to fit with their schedule, in beginning levels of both Classic and Skate. Course will run from 10:10am – 11:30am, ending just in time to meet your kids for lunch. Learn foundational techniques of Classic striding, stopping and slowing. Or for skating, learn diagonal, V1 and V2. Both on the flats and some gentle hills. Choose from two different four week sessions. This lesson includes rentals and trail pass. Junior EZ2 Nordic - Sundays

For any fitness level, a solid foundation that can be used to progress to the more advanced trails and techniques. Learn all of the basic techniques needed to safely and comfortably ski the local trails. The classic or skate technique are easily learned and the course will include skiing basic trails, slowing and stopping, turning as well as going up and down hills safely and in control. Skate skills will include learning the techniques of V1, V2 and V2 Alternate. The course will conclude with a tour of one of the area’s most popular scenic trails. Includes rental gear and a trail pass for each day of the program. Classic or Skate Cross Country - Ages 10-17

16 Below Program - Saturdays

This Junior Nordic Leadership Learning Program is designed for the upper level intermediate and advanced 14 and 15 year old JNP students that desire to take the next step towards becoming a Nordic Ski Instructor or other leadership positions, i.e., camp counselors. Working together with a senior adult instructor, the students will explore learning styles, learning ski progressions in classic and skate, class organization and management, movement analysis, safety considerations and specific tools used to guide a successful experience for students of all ages. Once the student reaches the age of 16 they should be prepared to both lead any beginning class in classic or skate and ready to take the Professional Ski Instructors of America, Level 1 Track examination and if successful become a certified instructor. Class size is limited and students will require approval for entry in the class of both the Director of JNP and the Nordic Program Supervisor. Cross Country - Ages 14-15
