Alpental Leadership Program

Saturdays/Sundays

In the Alpental Leadership Program you’ll discover the great skier or rider—and the great leader—already in you. Great skiers and riders move down the mountain easily and naturally, no matter what is thrown at them. Great leaders are the same with life. In the morning you’ll learn practical leadership skills, assisting instructors in teaching kids to ski or ride. The rest of the day, guided by our experienced staff, you’ll play, explore, and master how to move through snow and move through life with confidence and agility. By the end of the program, you’ll discover that you can work hard, play harder, and push your limits, all while enjoying the mountains.

The connections, skills, coaching, and experience gained in these programs are not only be inspirational and fun, but will look good on their resumes and college essays, and will lead towards professional certifications in PSIA/AASI. Plus, give them a distinct advantage in their job interview when they decide they want to come and work for us (or any other mountain).

Includes Unlimited Season Pass, program attendance required to maintain pass privileges.

This Junior Nordic Leadership Learning Program is designed for the upper level intermediate and advanced 14 and 15 year old JNP students that desire to take the next step towards becoming a Nordic Ski Instructor or other leadership positions, i.e., camp counselors. Working together with a senior adult instructor, the students will explore learning styles, learning ski progressions in classic and skate, class organization and management, movement analysis, safety considerations and specific tools used to guide a successful experience for students of all ages.

Once the student reaches the age of 16 they should be prepared to both lead any beginning class in classic or skate and ready to take the Professional Ski Instructors of America, Level 1 Track examination after their first year as an instructor. Class size is limited and students will require approval for entry in the class of both the Director of JNP and the Nordic Program Supervisor.
