New Express Chair and Other Summer Projects at The Summit

High-Speed Quad at Silver Fir

Our prayers have been answered...and any of you who endured the sedate ride up to enjoy Silver Fir's awesome tree-lined runs, cruisers, and powder stashes can surely relate! After recent approval of the project by the U.S. Forest Service, we are proud to announce that next season you can expect a bright, shiny and FAST new high-speed quad chair to be in place of the current triple chair (which has been there since 1988 if you're wondering). Your ride time will shrink from it's current 10-plus minutes to just over 4! Cruising Silver Fir just got a lot more fun.

Other Resort Improvements

While the new high-speed quad chair is the biggest news of the summer, we have several other projects in progress to make skiing and riding at The Summit and Alpental better, more comfortable, and more convenient!

  • New Parking Lot! Below the Tubing Center, access via Silver Fir.

  • New women's restroom at Summit Central. (Last season, the men got a fancy new one, now it's the ladies' turn!)

  • Plaza Extension at Summit Central, and renovation of the lower lodge entrance by the Bier Stube and restrooms.

  • Completion of back-up generators at Summit Central (Power outages can't keep us down!)

  • Completely new fleets of rental equipment at Alpental and Summit Central.

  • New drives on two chairlifts - Reggie's and Easy Street.

  • New log-cabin style lift shacks at Holiday, Triple 60, Gallery, Dodge Ridge and Little Thunder.

  • Painting all lift towers.

  • Brush cutting majority of all lower slopes (allows earlier opening of slopes and provides better access to more terrain).

  • Completion of final phase of Alpental Road repaving project.
