Summit Update: A Base is Building

It's all about the base!

Yesterday's storm brought about 7-8" of new snow to the base areas of Summit West and Alpental! Upper mountain at Alpental has seen 18" of fresh since Saturday! A great place to start when it comes to getting the base depth built up for opening. One more good storm and we could be ready to make the announcement!

Our grooming manager will be out on the mountain this afternoon further assessing Summit West.

At Summit West we need about another foot of snow to open Pacific Crest and Little Thunder. For opening day we like to have at least those two lifts spinning at a minimum, and prefer to have Wildside open as well if snow conditions allow. Some year's we have also opened Julies Chair on opening day, which requires similar snow depth as Pacific Crest.

After the next round of snow we'll be itching to get a groomer out on the hill to track-pack the main areas and start prepping loading and unloading areas.
