The Silver Fir Lodge
May 10, 2013
Work has resumed at Silver Fir Lodge and while melting snow and warm weather aren’t always welcome at a ski area, these conditions are perfect for hitting the ground running into Phase II at Silver Fir.

On Wednesday the 8th, crews officially started work on the all new lodge at Silver Fir. After receiving approval, the two phase plan for completing the lodge was kicked into motion. Phase one will consist of earthwork and pouring the foundation, then next summer we will begin phase two, completing the structure in time for the 2013/2014 season.

Working out the details.
Part of our Master Development Plan here at The Summit, the new Silver Fir Lodge is a key component in our commitment to provide a better experience for our guests. We are really excited about this new facility, it will bring a boost in service, food variety and seating to Summit Central, and introduce a second option for skiers and snowboarders enjoying Summit East.

The earthwork continues. Here you get an idea of the location in relation Silver Fir Express and the parking lot. The lodge will be ski-in, ski-out, but also have easy convenient access from the parking lot.

Great weather for working!

August 28 Update:

October 2 Update
Some fans of Silver Fir have expressed concerns about parking. The photo below helps illustrate just how far the building reaches into the existing parking lot. Guests can expect a barrier around the foundation this season, the barrier will be set to maximize parking and safety. The lot will have a slightly lower capacity, but rest assured, our snow removal crews will do their best to make the Silver Fir lot as spacious as possible this winter!

October 18 Update
This week is all about preparing for more concrete, getting these large retaining forms into place. Phase one is all about completing the foundation and walls, so we are getting close to wrapping up for this year. The recent snow at Alpental and a forecast that looks promising for more snow at lower elevations this weekend seems like a subtle hint from Mother Nature that we need to finish this soon!
