New-to-Nordic Package
New-to-Nordic packages are designed for beginner skier levels. Package includes full day rental, group instruction, and trail fees. This package is the perfect starting point for those new to cross-country skiing looking to learn the basics. Available for Classic track skiing or Skate skiing.

Nordic Upper Trails Orientation Tour
For the Nordic skier who is new to the Upper Trail system. The tour starts at the Silver Fir Lodge and begins with basic Lift Safety and Riding instructions. The tour pauses at Grand Junction and then continues on some of the upper trails depending on conditions. The tour concludes with a guided descent of the easiest way down to the Silver Fir Lodge.

Private Lesson

Private instruction can be one of the most effective ways to quickly improve your skill set or to get the basics in a private setting. Private instruction is flexible and can guide the beginner skier through the most basic skills while offering the intermediate and advanced skier direction and guidance in improving technique. Private instruction must be booked at least seven days in advance.

Consecutive Week Lessons

EZ 2 NORDIC ADULT – ‘LEARN-TO’ PROGRAM
For any fitness level, a solid foundation that can be used to progress to the more advanced trails and techniques. Learn all of the basic techniques needed to safely and comfortably ski the local trails. The classic or skate technique are easily learned and the course will include skiing basic trails, slowing and stopping, turning as well as going up and down hills safely and in control. Step by step your instructor will teach you the skills and how and where to practice. Skate skills will include learning the techniques of V1, V2 and V2 Alternate. The course will conclude with a tour of one of the area’s most popular scenic trails. Includes rental gear and a trail pass for each day of the program.

NORDIC BACKCOUNTRY INTRO
A class designed to take Nordic skiers off the groomed trails, and equip them with the skills and tools to safely begin traveling into the world of un-tracked snow. Routes will allow for varying terrain and ability, opportunities for map reading/topo feature identification and proximity to emergency services. Class will cover introductions to avalanche awareness, pieps, navigation and skiing skills used in this type of environment. Lunch break will be taken on the trail, please pack your own lunch.

Treasure Trails Session #1 – (SOLD OUT)

Junior Nordic Program
This is an eight week program for youths age 7-18. Students are divided into age groups: Little Nords (7-10), Freeheelers (11-14) and Trailblazers (15-18). Within those groups, students are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced groups based on their skill-level. Little Nords work on strengthening their classic and downhill skills and most groups will be skiing the upper trail system by season end. Older Little Nord groups will also split their season between skating and classic. Freeheelers and Trailblazers ski both classic and skate and work on perfecting their technique, efficiency, and endurance.

Junior Nordic Leadership Program
This is the first step to becoming a Nordic Ski Instructor and prepares students for many types of youth coaching positions. Students will learn teaching skills and how to be the leader of a group, and then work on their ski skills. Students work as an assistant with one of the younger JNP groups and work on their own technique by joining either an advanced JNP group, an adult lesson, or an instructor clinic. Coaches’ assistants receive a Nordic Season Pass and a uniform for the season. Acceptance is contingent on approval of the Nordic Center Director.

This is an advanced program for students age 13-18 who want to compete in nordic skiing and provides an introduction to nordic racing for students considering joining one of the local junior race teams. Students will work with a coach who will lead training sessions for the group in technique, race strategy, and ski prep. Distance and intensity will be dictated by the make-up of the group. Students should be skilled at both skate and classic skiing and able to ski down from the upper trail system. Two 4 week sessions are available. You can sign up for one or both.

Registration Details & Refund Policies

1. Prices are for lessons only. Obtaining equipment rentals, trail passes and/or lift tickets are additional costs. The Summit Nordic Center rents Classic, Skate, and metal-edged backcountry skis, boots, and poles. Nordic Equipment Season Rentals are available through the Nordic Center for only $80 + tax. the Summit Rental department directly for details on Season Rental information – rentals@summiti90.com.

2. When a program is postponed due to road closures or severe weather conditions, the day will be made up at the end of the session. Please refer to the PROGRAM HOTLINE phone number contained in your confirmation letter for up-to-date program information. The make-up day will occur the week following the last scheduled day of the program.

3. If a student chooses not to participate in a scheduled make-up lesson, there will be no additional make-up days provided. Absence means forfeiting that lesson day.

4. Lesson programs are non-transferable between persons or time periods.

5. All credit requests must be made in writing to The Summit Learning Center accompanied with original verification and must arrive in our office PRIOR TO THE LAST DAY OF THE PROGRAM. There is an additional $25.00 non-refundable administrative processing fee for all credit requests.
